MaaraTech Fielday Walk

MaaraTech, with the support of Mr Apple, will be hosting an Orchard Walk to present and discuss the latest R&D technologies in orchard canopies, fruit sensing and support/training manual labour.

There will be on-orchard demonstrations and presentations, targeted at senior leading hands/supervisors up to technical orchard managers, including:

• Smartphone-based fruitlet counting for QS during thinning. [Lincoln Agritech, CLM2-project]
• Data app of capturing, analysing and visualising orchard data (e.g. counts). [AgFirst Nelson]
• Virtual Reality system for training manual work in management of fruit crops [U. of Auckland]
• Augmented Reality system for supporting manual work in orchards [University of Canterbury]
• Machine-based fruit counting R&D for kiwifruit: video. [University of Auckland/RPL]
